I’ve gotten insane amounts of love and support from y’all! You guys have been so supportive and understanding about me updating less recently. I’m so glad you guys are comfortable reaching out to me on other platforms as well (Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat). I’ve done my best with responding to everyone’s words and well-wishes. You guys are absolutely incredible! Unfortunately I’m still not going to be uploading pics for a while since there’s too many and I don’t even know where to begin, but feel free to stalk up my other social media sites for all of them!

Things have been great on my end! I’m passing my classes (striving for A’s still but I’m not going to hold myself to insane standards anymore if I can’t keep them up), I’m spending tons of time making memories with my family and friends, I’m losing weight still (insanely slowly, but I’ll take it!), and I’ve been feeling great!

Last weekend was awesome! My brother took Auty for a sleepover for the night. My crew went out for the night and it was a total blast (Megan, Sophia, Mel, Timur, Alex, and I)! We had dinner at Uno’s and then went clubbing. We got home around 3:30am, ordered a pizza, talked, laughed, and eventually went to sleep. The night was incredible! And I got out a lot with my girls but I never get to bring hubby with. Having him there was awesome!

School is almost over! Just one month left until winter break! And guess what were doing for winter break? DISNEYWORLD! Woohoo! Literally so excited I can barely breath! We’re spending a week in Orlando doing Disney and maybe Universal Studios. Autumn will have the best time too! On top of that one of my close friends, Marylou, lives there and she’s going to watch Autumn for a day so we can do all the scary rides and then experience downtown Disney as adults! Ugh, I wish we could just leave right now!

I need to get back on track with eating and exercising. I’m still loosing weight but I have no idea how that’s happening. I never watch what I eat, I never count calories (or protein and carbs), I never track my water intake, and I feel like I eat carbs at every sitting. I think the only reason I’m still losing weight is because I’m much more active in my every day life. I really need to get back on track. I can’t promise to use myfitnesspal, but I need to be much more consciousness of my choices. And I really need to start exercising again. I’m a work in progress but I will never give up on myself again! One step at a time.

What a Month!

Ahhhhh you guys! Not even sure where to start this time!

I’m definitely excited for winter break, because I need a break!!! Life is going really well, but it’s still tough adjusting to the busy lifestyle.

Midterms week was last week, and it sucked. I was completely frantic, plus I had a week that seemed like it was bad luck at every turn. It really was. It’s all turning around now, but it was quite the week!

I’ve been spending a lot of time with my friends! Every Sunday night when Autumn, Alex, and Timur go to bed, Sophia, Megan, and I go have a girls night. We go to Fox and Hound, drink, play games (pool, darts, jenga, ping pong, shuffleboard), make friends, walk over to the hookah bar and smoke some hookah and then take Uber home. And it’s honestly a blast! Plus every Friday night is Alex and my date night too. We go to dinner have some wine, and see a movie/go to a park/etc etc etc. So basically life is good!

On Sunday night we did just that. The next day we woke up and brought Autumn to a pumpkin patch, had a sushi picnic lunch, brought Autumn to the park, and then went to see a movie. I love my friends!

Next week is Halloween y’all! Woohoo!! Our Halloween party is Friday and we’re all very excited. I bought a costume this year! Guess what size it was in? XL! Yup, that’s right, I said XL!!!!! Holy crap!

We’ve already gone to one haunted house and we plan to do our next one soon! Did I mention that I love October?!

Tis’ the Season for Haunted Houses and Updates!

Hey you guys!! I am so so so so sorry it’s been almost three weeks! I know I warned y’all that it will take longer to update during the school year, but three weeks is really pushing it. I’ve gotten some upset emails saying things like “all bloggers quit, wish you weren’t like the rest” (yes, that was a direct quote). I promise you guys I’m not quitting! It may sometimes take me longer but I’ll still always be here. On top of that, remember y’all can always reach me through Facebook, email, Pinterest, Instagram, etc. I do my best at getting back to you guys as soon as possible.

LOTS of updates today so here goes:

-Not a lot of weight-loss related updates. Still stuck at 237. I’ve barely been trying to lose weight lately though. Haven’t been watching what I eat consistently. I haven’t been eating crap either, but I could truly be a lot better.

-School has been great! It’s tough being busy all the time (I don’t really have much ‘me-time’ anymore), but I’ve really gotten into the swing of things and now I’m used to my routine. I’ve also made a couple awesome friends at school one of whom regularly reads my blog (Hi Nida!)!

-Autumn and I have been spending lots of friend time lately too! Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday she spends the whole day (10 am until 5 pm) with friends from our building. And Tuesdays and Thursdays she spends the day with friends at pre-school. Good set up!

-Happy belated Rosh Hashanah to all of my Jewish friends! We celebrated with family and friends and the day was just awesome! It happened to fall on Sophia’s birthday so we celebrated both on the same day and gave her cake and presents after dinner. Every day (especially Holidays) I’m reminded of just how lucky I am and how incredible my support system is!

-Did I mention how since surgery I’m the worlds biggest lightweight? Like seriously guys, it’s embarrassing! We’ve had a couple drinking nights with friends, and after literally 1-2 shots, I’m completely wasted. Like falling over, cracking up like a hyena, wasted. My friends think it’s so funny, but I’m honestly a bit ashamed!

-A week ago we all decided to do a festival in our town (Mel, Soph, Timur, Alex, Autumn and I). We listened to music, played volleyball, played football, took Autumn on a bounce house, and walked around downtown Arlington Heights (even had dinner at one of my favorite bar/restaurants Peggy Kinane’s and sat outside). After the festival and dinner we drove to a giant bonfire in Schaumburg. We roasted weenie’s and marshmallows, drank amazing hot chocolate by the fire, visited all of these old houses, and took a hay-ride. The day was freakin’ incredible and reminded me how amazing my new-found stamina is.

-We are having a pretty big Halloween party this year! We do one every year, but last year was only 15-20 people. This year we’re looking at closer to 30! I’m nervous but super excited too! We will deck out the place in Halloween stuff (obviously!). We’ll be ordering pizza’s for dinner and playing a bunch of games (bobbing for apples, the mummy-wrap, we even got a pumpkin pinata (again)). Alex and I bought a little trophy for whoever wins best costume too! I’m not telling y’all what I’m going to be (it’s a surprise so you’ll all have to wait for the photos), but I will tell y’all that I bought my costume in a size XL and it fits well. Holy crap! After Autumn goes to bed there may or may not be adult beverages provided. O:)

-Tis’ the season of haunted houses! Our first haunted house of the season is happening tomorrow! My dad and Helen are watching Autumn while Mel, Greg, Soph, Timur, Alex and I go to Evil Intentions. Woohoo!

-We decided to take a vacation soon. We were thinking maybe Disney World with Autumn, but we’re not sure. Any suggestions guys?

-And now for my biggest and favorite update! September 22nd was Alex and my seven year anniversary! SEVEN YEARS! I literally cannot thank God enough for putting this man in my life. Nothing- nothing– would be the same without him. He is my everything. I would never be the woman that I am today without him, and I will spend the rest of my life returning the favor by his side. We celebrated in the best way! Autumn was at pre-school and Timur was at work. Alex took the day off so we could be together. We woke up and went out for coffee. As a gift Alex took me to the Verizon store and let me pick a new iPhone! I got the iPhone 6 with 128 GB and I love my new phone! Then we ate lunch out together and went to see a movie (The Scorch Trials- awesome book and movie). After the movie we stopped at home to see Autumn and Timur and hung out for about an hour. Then we went to dinner at Seasons 52 (um…. YUM), and after dinner we had a one-hour couples massage! It was honestly one of the greatest days/nights ever!

I’ve honestly just been living up life! We’ve been seeing movies, had some drinking nights, I’ve been doing lots of sushi dates with my friends, late night park visits with the ladies, festivals, bonfires, you name it! Life is good, and Autumn is great (pun intended)!

The Pursuit of… Homework

Hey guys! Sorry it’s been a couple of weeks since my last update, but if I’m being honest it will probably take me two weeks to update from now on.

Everything is going well! I had a rough start of the school year (just struggled a bit with adjusting to life being busier). I’m definitely starting to adjust well now. I have a little routine going, and I’ve pretty much gotten the hang of it now. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I stay at home with Autumn. She has friends over and I get to do some homework and figure out my meals for the week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I wake up at 6:30 am, get everyone ready, drop Autumn at preschool, drop Timur at work, and then go to school. I get home from school around 4 pm and I start dinner. Every night I do homework. I’m only taking 3 classes, but I feel like the homework is never-ending! That being said, I’ve already made some awesome friends at school and I’m enjoying my classes! It’s nice to be back! I think it will take me a while to fully adjust to the constant busy-ness, but I know that these are all positive changes so that helps. Life’s been good to me, guys.

We just made Autumn’s room into a Minnie Mouse wonderland, and she loves it! She always has her friends come over so they can play in her room. We are lucky enough to have five “built-in” friends (live in our complex). She’s as social as her mother, and I’m very proud of that! She’s liking pre-school more. The first couple weeks she cried hysterically when I dropped her off, but now she only cries for a minute or so. Plus when we pick her up she tells us what a great time she had at school.

My birthday was awesome by the way! Alex wanted it to be a birthday weekend, which made it even more awesome. I ate like shit, but made up for it the following week (I even lost a pound!). Alex took off on my birthday and TImur came home early. We all went to a sushi lunch and then shopped, swam and hung out. We baked a cake and had friends over. After Autumn went to bed, we had some drinks and played truth or dare (plus dancing…. if you can even call it that). It was an amazing night! I got a ton of presents and loved them all! Did I mention I’m a very lucky girl? The following weekend my dad took me out for my birthday to Jameson’s. So I basically celebrated my birthday for 10 days. Kind of! For my final birthday gift Alex and I are talking about getting me an iPhone 6! Woohoo!

So not a ton of updates, I’m going to list them out to make sure I don’t miss anything:

Autumn loves her new Minnie room, she’s been having a blast spending her days with friends at home or friends at pre-school, I’m adjusting (well) to being back in school, I’ve been spending my days with friends, family, or doing homework, I had an awesome birthday (best one yet!), and I think that’s all folks!

In terms of weight-loss, not a whole lot to update. I lost a pound because it’s easier to eat well when I’m at school. I bring a Quest bar, a big ol’ bottle of water, and make sure to meal prep for dinner the night before. I ate really bad last week. Really, really bad. A lot of pizza, sushi, and crap. Why didn’t I gain weight? No clue. But I’m very glad that I noticed my mistakes and got back on track. A couple years ago I would have lost control and never regained it. In fact, I don’t think I was ever in control.

One more cheesy thank you that has to be said. I woke up two days ago to 56 emails/messages/txts of support from you guys. Wow. I’m honestly humbled and honored at how much love and support I’ve received. I know sometimes I get busy and take a while to update my blog or respond to you guys, but no matter what I am eternally grateful for all of the support I have gotten from y’all. Eternally grateful.

But College Students Need Nap Time Too…

Hey guys! Lot’s of updates and pics this week!

Autumn and I started school on Tuesday! We’re both in school full days Tuesday’s and Thursdays. Autumn is still adjusting. Today and Tuesday she cried for the first 30 minutes and then wound up having a blast for the rest of the day (her teachers told me). They also told me that she’s one of the most social kids in the class! She’s already made four friends!

By the way, I have another Autumn update: she has her first “boyfriend”! Now before I get a bunch of emails saying “But Suzy, she’s only 3…” let me explain. They’re just friends, but they’re adorable together! Nicky lives at the building across from ours and every morning they run out and yell for each other “Hi Nicky!!” then a minute later we hear “Hi Autumn!!” SO CUTE! He is also such a gentlemen and he’s only 3 (almost 4)! When Autumn was cold, he took off his shirt (he had a shirt under it) and put it on her! They hold hands all the time, they hug, and he kisses her on the forehead! He also says things like “can we be best friends forever?”. My heart literally melts when I watch them! They play so well together too! They never fight, they share super well. Ugh, I love my neighborhood. She has 6 friends that are living in our building and the one across the way. So blessed!

It’s also kind of a huge adjustment for me going to back to school. It’s a little bittersweet. It’s bitter because all of my friends are gone. It’s really like starting over from scratch, except as a 24 (25 tomorrow!) year old instead of an 18 year old. It’s weird to be one of the oldest people in all my classes. The sweet part is that I’m taking even more steps to better myself. I want to be the best role model I can possibly be for Autumn, and education is important to me so I want to set a good example for her.

I have been lacking on exercise, but I have every intention on fixing that. I’ve been eating pretty well though. For my birthday tomorrow I am really going to try to eat well, but no promises!

I’ve been spending lots of time with friends and family lately! Since the schedule has gotten busier I just have to make more effort to see everyone and stay active. I definitely feel more tired every night, but in a good way. I feel more accomplished!

Chocolate Covered Pizza?

Hey guys!!!

Really not that many personal updates, so I’m going to keep today’s post mostly about weight-loss. Just been seeing friends and preparing to go back to school next week. I’ve shifted from being nervous to excited! I’m sure I’ll have more personal updates next week.

I’m addicted to chocolate and pizza. Those are my vices. It’s different though because I can eat my vices and still lose weight. I think the reason for that is because when I eat pizza I can only eat 1-2 slices maximum. It’s easy enough to work that off. Mind you, pizza is still a bad choice. I’m sitting well at 238 right now, which is amazing seeing as I was stuck in the 240’s for what felt like 800 years. I have the same goal as before, to get at or below 200.

I’m still running but I’m thinking of cutting back. I spoke with my surgeon on the phone and he said that although running is great exercise, it is a very high impact (stressful on joints) workout and he thinks I should limit it and start back at the gym. I want to sign up for zumba classes, get a gym membership, and figure out how to properly lift weights. I would really love a personal trainer but I think it’s too much money right now.

I’ve been eating really well lately. Keeping my calories between 1,200 and 1,400 a day. The only big struggle is weekends. On Friday or Saturday Alex and I have a date night. I try to go somewhere health conscious (like Bonefish Grill), but I don’t always make the best choices. Then usually on Sunday we order out or pick up food. This day is always where I fail miserably. I’ll eat pasta, pizza, or something carb healthy like those two. My will power definitely still needs some work.

I’m still very thankful that even after a year out my lifestyle changes have stood firm. Some of my friends sadly have started regaining, and I’m still (slowly) losing. That, in itself, is something to be thankful about. I have a long  road still ahead of me, but at least I’ve begun the trip.

Here’s a helpful tip to y’all: mental state has a lot to do with physical state. If you are happy, it will be much easier to do better and to attain good health. If you are miserably, well- you get it. So strive for happiness!

Hey guys!

Been a hectic week around here guys, some good and some bad!

Here’s all of the updates (I put them in list form to make it easier):

-I start school on August 25th. I am pursuing a Business B.A. and only going part time.

-Alex goes back to work on Monday.

-Autumn starts daycare/pre-preschool on Monday.

-I’m fighting with my sister and have no intention of fixing it.

-One of my close friends- Marylou- moved to Florida. 😦

Okay. On to the bigger ones!

We just got back yesterday from an amazing vacation! Dinah, Timur, Alex, Autumn and I spent three days in Wisconsin. The first two days and nights we went to Wisconsin Dells, and then the third day we went to Madison. We did slides with Autumn and she loved them! On the second day we dropped her off at Kids Quest (basically a daycare) so we could have a few hours to do the scary slides and stuff. It was a lot of fun but we really missed her! Some of the stuff we did on the trip: hot tubs, slides, wave pools, go carts (Autumn loved them!), walking downtown, etc. In Madison we ate lunch outside in downtown at a cute bar and grill. We walked around the city and explored the capital building. It was just an amazing trip!

A few nights before the trip I had a really good night with my in-laws. We went to dinner at Maggiano’s and then to Dave and Busters for games. We didn’t get home until quite late (thank you again for watching Auty, Timur!). Thank goodness Alex’s mom drove because his dad and I got wasted. We were the life of the party! Laughing, dancing, playing games, and drinking some more. It was a great night and I really felt like the bond between us is stronger then ever. I needed it, a lot. It reminded me how lucky I am to have them. There are days where I am angry with them (we are family after all), but ultimately they are amazing in-laws. They watch Autumn so we can get out, they are supportive whenever we need it, and they are very loving towards me.
